IMPORTANT: One-Day ELO Program Closure

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to inform you that the Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) onsite programs will be closed on Friday, March 20, 2026, for a scheduled staff professional development (in-service) day. Regular ELO services will resume after Spring Break on April 6, 2026.  Remember that March 20th is also an early release day. Elementary schools are out at 12:50 pm, and Middle schools are dismissed at 1:30 pm.

This professional development opportunity is designed to improve the quality of our program and to better prepare our staff to serve our students, families, and community. Ongoing training is an important part of maintaining high-quality expanded learning programs.*

Please note:
Only ELO operated afterschool programs at MPUSD school sites will be closed on March 20. The following programs will continue to operate as normal:

  • CPY

  • YMCA- Clubhouse

  • The Village Project

  • Boys & Girls Club

  • Youth Center in Marina

  • Teen Center in Marina

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and support as we work to strengthen our program. Please plan accordingly to pick up your child(ren) at the end of the school day on March 20th. If you have any questions, please contact the ELO Office at (831) 392-3944 and (831) 392-3954.

Sincerely,
Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) Program Team

* In accordance with California Department of Education guidance, school districts operating ELO afterschool programs are permitted to close programs for staff training and professional development for up to three (3) days per year. This provision aligns with the After School Education and Safety (ASES) program rules, specifically California Education Code Section 46120(b)(8).

Thank you
